Job description

Back-end C# / .NET Developer

Are you an experienced Back-end C# / .NET Developer who wants to build within a complex, event-driven e-commerce landscape that processes thousands of orders across multiple systems every day? Do you value technical freedom, responsibility, and short lines of communication with the business? Then this could be your next step.

The Challenge

At Knivesandtools / KATO Group, you will help build the technical heart of our e-commerce operation. Our primary e-commerce platform is developed externally, but all integrations, back-office systems, and supporting tools are developed and managed in-house. This gives us maximum control over performance, reliability, and innovation.

You will work within an event-based microservices architecture in AWS, where we process millions of messages weekly, handle an average of 1,500 orders and shipments daily, and integrate with more than 20 sales channels across 30+ countries. All of this takes place within a modern best-of-breed SaaS landscape.

You will play a central role: building and maintaining the systems that keep our entire operation running and future-proof. You will work closely with colleagues in IT, the Head of IT, Business Development, Finance, and key users from Operations. No heavy hierarchy—just direct collaboration with decision-makers who actively use and rely on your solutions.

What You Will Do

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain back-end microservices in C# .NET 8.0

  • Build and manage event-driven integrations within AWS (and partly Azure Functions)

  • Contribute to and decide on architecture, tooling, and technical choices

  • Automate processes within our ERP using JavaScript/SuiteScript

  • Develop automations that accelerate processes and reduce errors

  • Ensure quality in terms of performance, stability, and security

  • Translate business needs into sustainable technical solutions

What You Bring

  • At least 3 years of experience as a back-end developer

  • Strong knowledge of C#, .NET (8.0), and relational databases

  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure)

  • An analytical, structured, and proactive working style

  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership

  • A collaborative mindset, curiosity, and eagerness to learn

  • Good command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken

Nice to Have

  • Experience with AWS Lambda, SQS, Terraform, or other IaC tools

  • Experience with MSSQL and stored procedures

  • Familiarity with headless architectures and microservices

  • Experience with JavaScript and/or SuiteScript (NetSuite)

  • Interest in or experience with PHP, Laravel, or MySQL

  • Ample room for personal growth, training, and development

  • Flexible working hours

  • A comfortable office in Apeldoorn with great facilities

  • A proper laptop to work efficiently

  • A competitive salary and strong secondary benefits, including product discounts and daily lunch—three times a week prepared by our in-house chef

  • An informal work atmosphere with engaged colleagues, plus regular team events and social gatherings
