MARISSA

‘Your input is highly regarded, and if you show that you can and want to do more, there's room for personal growth.

In November 2020, Marissa began her career at Knivesandtools as a warehouse assistant, which means she started during our busy period.

I started in November 2020, right during the busiest time of the year. It took some hard work, but in the end it was a good experience. You dive right into the work. You quickly learn everything there is to know about picking and packing orders, and receiving. It is an important and precise task in which, over time, I was given more and more responsibilities. For instance, I solved problems together with the Purchasing Department.’

In 2022, Marissa suffered a painful knee injury. As a result, it was hard for her to stand, walk and lift boxes.

As a result of my injury I could only do tasks that allowed me to sit down while doing them. That's when I started focusing entirely on the administrative side of goods-in-process. I also started assisting the Purchasing Department in the office. As a result, I learned a lot about the purchasing and logistics of incoming products.

When a new goods-in-process system launched in 2023, it was clear who would take the lead in incorporating this.

The new Inbound Shipment project was perfect for me. I now make sure that all incoming goods are correctly registered in our system before being received by our warehouse. This saves a considerable amount of time and it improves the accuracy of stock statuses on our website.’

When you ask Marissa what she likes most about her job, she doesn't have to think long about it.

The thing I like most about my job is working with my colleagues, in a team. From the moment I started at Knivesandtools, I immediately felt at home. It's clear that you and your work are appreciated and that you're part of the team. There is room for your own input and if you show that you can and want to do more, there's room for personal growth. I love that!
